Question 1

How is Three Keys different from a sales trainer?

Accepted Answer

Sales training is typically a one-off event — a workshop, a course, a set of techniques. The results rarely stick because the environment around the salesperson doesn't change. Three Keys works differently. We build the process, the leadership capability and the commercial strategy together, so the improvement is structural, not just individual. Simon works alongside you and your team over time, not just for a day.

Question 2

How is this different from a large consulting firm?

Accepted Answer

With a large firm you get a team of analysts, a thick report, and a partner who hands off to junior staff. With Three Keys you get Simon — directly. He has 25 years of experience leading sales teams and businesses across Australia and Asia-Pacific, and he does the work himself. There's no overhead, no junior consultants, and no generic frameworks applied without context.

Question 3

What industries do you work with?

Accepted Answer

Three Keys works across B2B services, technology, professional services, financial services and distribution. The common thread is businesses with a considered sales process — where relationships, trust and expertise matter more than volume or transaction speed. If you're selling something complex, high-value or relationship-dependent, the Three Keys approach applies.

Question 4

Where are you based and do you work remotely?

Accepted Answer

Three Keys is based in Sydney, Australia. Simon works with clients across Australia and can work remotely where appropriate. For workshops, leadership sessions and intensive engagements, in-person is preferred — the quality of conversation is simply better.

Question 5

What size business do you work with?

Accepted Answer

Three Keys works with Australian SMEs and mid-market businesses typically between $1M and $50M in revenue. The sweet spot is businesses that have proven their model and are ready to scale — but are being held back by inconsistent sales performance, leadership gaps or a lack of commercial structure. If you're a founder who has outgrown doing everything yourself, or a sales leader who needs a thinking partner, this is built for you.

Question 6

Do you work with founders directly, or only with sales teams?

Accepted Answer

Both. Some engagements are focused entirely on the founder or CEO — helping them lead more effectively, make better decisions and build a business that doesn't depend on them personally. Others are focused on the sales team and its leader. Most engagements involve both, because the two are inseparable: a sales team rarely outperforms the leader above it.

Question 7

We don't have a dedicated sales team — is Three Keys still relevant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many of our clients are founder-led businesses where the founder is still the primary salesperson. Three Keys helps you build the process and capability to transition away from that dependency — so revenue doesn't stop when you step back, and growth doesn't require you to do more hours.

Question 8

How do I know which program is right for us?

Accepted Answer

The best starting point is the Three Keys Growth Diagnostic. It's a focused working session that maps how your sales process actually works, identifies where revenue is leaking, and gives you a clear picture of your top priorities. From there, the right program — if any — becomes obvious. We won't recommend a program that doesn't fit.

Question 9

How long do engagements typically run?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the program. The Diagnostic is a single session. Coaching and advisory programs typically run three to six months, with regular sessions and between-session support. Workshops and intensives are shorter by design. We'll agree on a clear scope and timeline before anything starts — no open-ended retainers.

Question 10

Do you offer ongoing advisory or retainer arrangements?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Some clients engage Three Keys on an ongoing basis as a fractional sales and leadership advisor — a thinking partner who is close enough to the business to give real input, without the cost of a full-time executive hire. These arrangements are structured around your needs and reviewed regularly.

Question 11

Can you work with our existing sales manager or leadership team?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely — and it's often the most effective approach. Three Keys works alongside your existing leaders, not instead of them. The goal is to build their capability and confidence, not to create a dependency on external support. We're here to make ourselves unnecessary over time.

Question 12

What happens in the first conversation?

Accepted Answer

The first conversation is a no-obligation discovery call — typically 30 to 45 minutes. Simon will ask about your business, your current challenges and what you're trying to achieve. You'll get a clear sense of whether Three Keys is the right fit, and if it is, what the logical next step looks like. There's no pitch and no pressure.

Question 13

How quickly can we get started?

Accepted Answer

Typically within one to two weeks of the initial conversation. The Diagnostic can usually be scheduled within that window. For larger engagements, we'll agree a start date that works for both sides and allows for proper preparation.

Question 14

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing is scoped to the engagement and discussed openly in the first conversation. Three Keys doesn't publish a rate card because the right scope varies significantly between businesses. What we can say is that the investment is structured to deliver a clear return — and if we don't believe it will, we'll tell you.
